Commonly Asked Questions
1
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — we accept most major insurance plans and are credentialed with many Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). Please check with your insurance carrier to confirm your behavioral health benefits before your first appointment. We are happy to help you verify coverage when you call.
2
Do you accept Medicaid or Denali KidCare?
No — unfortunately we are not Medicaid or Denali Kid Care providers. However, we do offer a 25% administrative discount for uninsured and discounted rates with our Master's Level clinicians. We encourage you to call us if cost is a concern. We want to help you find a way to access care.
3
Do you offer marital counseling?
Yes. All of our counselors offer marital and couples counseling, including pre-marital counseling for both first marriages and remarriages.
4
Do you have evening or weekend appointments?
Our regular office hours are 9:00am–5:00pm, Monday through Friday. When clients are unable to schedule within regular hours, evening and weekend appointments may be available depending on counselor availability. Please ask when you call.
5
What does faith-based counseling mean? Will it be required?
Faith-based counseling at New Hope means integrating biblical truth and Christian principles with effective psychological practices — for clients who desire it. We fully respect the beliefs of clients who do not share our faith and offer traditional counseling as well. Faith is always an invitation, never a requirement.
6
How do I know which counselor is right for me?
You don't have to figure that out alone. When you contact us, our intake coordinator will help match you with the right counselor based on your needs, preferences, and schedule. You can also browse counselor profiles — each one lists their specialty areas — on our Our Team page.
7
Is telehealth available?
Yes — we offer secure video sessions to anyone physically located in Alaska during the appointment. Telehealth is available for individual, couples, and family counseling. No special software is needed — just a device with a camera and a private space to talk.
8
Do you offer neurofeedback?
Yes — we now offer Othmer Method Neurofeedback through our certified providers. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, medication-free, brain training approach that may help with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, depression, sleep issues, and more. Ask us whether it might be a good fit for your situation.
